Livestock and dairy schemes
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) runs three big central programmes for animal keepers and agri-entrepreneurs. Together they cover the full range: free breeding services for the ordinary farmer, capital subsidies for new livestock farms, and cheap credit for processing plants. Farm-level subsidies flow through the Udyamimitra portals; breeding services come through your state animal husbandry department.
- National Livestock Mission (NLM) — 50% capital subsidy (up to Rs 25-50 lakh) for poultry, sheep-goat, pig, and feed-fodder ventures; apply on nlm.udyamimitra.in.
- Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) — loans up to 90% of project cost with 3% interest subvention and credit guarantee for dairy/meat processing, feed plants, and breeding farms.
- Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) — free doorstep artificial insemination, Rs 5,000 per IVF pregnancy, subsidised sex-sorted semen, and 50% capital subsidy for breed multiplication farms.
