Income Support Schemes
Income support schemes put cash directly into farmers' bank accounts, with no loan to repay and no purchase required. They exist because most Indian farmers work small plots and face costs — seeds, fertiliser, household needs — that arrive before harvest income does. Payments go through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), which means the money moves straight from the government to the farmer's Aadhaar-linked bank account with no intermediaries.
